Plat 1 Myth Busters
In a continued effort to promote transparency, there are some issues that need addressing. For years this community has been run with a sort of hearsay or grapevine mentality, as far as the governing documents are concerned. Most of us are not lawyers and the legalese of the docs leave most of us so confused, that we never really read them completely. This has led to many unhappy homeowners over the years. This page is dedicated to dispelling the myths and gossip that plague our community!
DVP1 & Community Engagement Responsibilities

There are some untruths being told about Plat 1 and Community Engagement around Plat 1, the other plats and the REC Assn. The story is that DVP1 “refuses” to deliver the REC Assn newsletter or information. I’d like to take a moment to set the record straight. Until recently, DVP1 had volunteers to distribute our newsletter (The Voice) to all 274 homes in our Plat. As a courtesy to the REC Assn, our volunteers also delivered the REC News. The changes to a digital version were talked about for months and even an advisory printed in the Voice. There was also an email blast sent to 193 email addresses on Community Engagements blast list. This change was done to save our community money. Now that DVP1 has gone digital, we only deliver six (6) physical copies. Our REC Assn representative was advised of this in advance that we had no one to deliver them anymore. No one in DVP1 stepped up to deliver the REC News. Not even the REC Assn representatives in our Plat. This was not the fault of the DVP1 HOA Board or Community Engagement. You simply can’t make people volunteer. Until recently, Community Engagement volunteered to blast out REC Assn announcements as a courtesy to the REC Assn. It was our way of volunteering to assist the REC Assn get its information out to our Plat. But we did not send it out in a timely enough manner for our REC representative. I advised them that they should create their own blast list and send their information. Community Engagement is a volunteer committee, no one wants to volunteer to do the REC Assn blasts. Again, You simply can’t make people volunteer.
Additionally our community is being given a black eye by the REC Assn. Stating that we are not being cooperative. Nothing is further from the truth. I have offered my services to our REC Assn Reps and even sent a letter of introduction to the REC Board president in September of this year. As of this posting, I'm still awaiting an acknowledgement or a response to this email.

Solar Panels
There is nothing in our documents stating your home cannot be solar powered. When our community was built, solar was not an option for home use yet.
Stand-By Generators
Stand-By Generators are permitted

Please keep in mind that the homeowner will have to contact the board member responsible for Architecture. Currently Robert Mendelsohn. The homeowner assumes all responsibility for the county permitting, and must abide by all state and federal laws that apply.
